Community Center Attendant

The City of Nevada Parks & Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for a part-time attendant position at the Community Center.  This position requires the ability to work a flex schedule, 7 days per week and will carry out customer/public service duties.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the basic administration and maintenance of the community center
  • Answering the telephone and handling normal office functions
  • Assisting in the administration of recreational leagues and activities provided by the City
  • Opening and closing the building
  • Maintaining records of recreation center attendance, equipment, injuries, discipline, and activities

Facilities Maintenance Laborer

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for a full time Facilities Maintenance Laborer. Primary duties are comprised of performing skilled and semi-skilled work in constructing and maintenance of City facilities. Qualifications include graduate from high school or G.E.D. equivalent, two years’ experience in construction and maintenance activities, and ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.

This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

Some of the essential functions of this position include:
• Perform repairs on buildings and other facilities, including minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and telecommunications repairs.
• Assist in construction and remodeling projects
• Assist in installation and repair of telecommunications equipment including telephones, cabling (including fiber optic cable), video cameras and equipment, and mobile radio equipment.

This position is a pay grade 10 with a starting annual wage of $25,573. This position includes full benefits such as retirement, health, dental, vision, and life insurance as well as paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.

Co-Ed Volleyball Referees

The City of Nevada is accept applications for Volleyball referees for the 2014 winter adult co-ed volleyball season.

Position requires working Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6 PM until 9 PM.  Must be 16 years of age.  Volleyball experience preferred but can train the right person.

The wage for these positions is $7.50 an hour.

Group Exercise Instructor

The City of Nevada Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for a seasonal Group Exercise Instructor.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide a fun and safe workout through one or more specialty group exercise classes.
  • Instruct patrons on proper techniques and alternative movements, demonstrate exercises, and teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
  • Educate participants concerning safe exercise techniques and constantly monitor for safety.
  • Deliver the class in a fun and interesting manner to motivate class participants.
  • Promote classes and assist in special events.
  • Assist to familiarize new participants with class procedures.
  • Greet, introduce and welcome participants.
  • Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members.

This position will meet on weekday evenings.  Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Firefighter I

The Nevada Fire Department is now accepting applications for the position of Firefighter I.  The starting wage for this position is $26,724 per year.
